Ephemeral Auditorium in roundwood

Elevation joli 3_bis.jpg

In preparation for the International Wood Construction Forum held in the Grand Palais in Paris, we were asked to construct an ephemeral auditorium in roundwood. The only requirements for this structure were for it to be in wood and to be mounted and disassembled in a few days. Therefore, in keeping with the process defined in the introduction to roundwood construction, the idea of the palisade was kept, the assembly was simplified and the overall process was reimagined to fit the requirements of an auditorium.

general

To assemble the palisade, the idea was to orient the trunks along a curve and to determine the cutting angle so that each trunk would have enough material to be treated without there being an assembly conflict.

Outcome

This project involved constructing an auditorium that answers multiple questions related to mobility, acoustics and the production process. The overall aim was to construct a palisade like an auditorium, revolving around the parametric aspect, mainly using Rhino3D and Grasshopper as tools.
