Assembly

This phase describes the exact process used for the assembly of 5 trunks. All of them were scanned and turned into cloud points, after which they were transformed into solid 3D volumes to properly execute the bisector process and to determine their respective angle values. In addition to the angle values, a new assembly method was imagined by using rectangular pieces of wood between the trunks as well as wooden cylindrical joints to hold the palisade.

The outcomes are 5 unique trunks, each having its own angle values and holes for the assembly. The cutting process is done using the CNC 5 axis, a robotic cutting system enabling clean and precise finishings. This assembly system certainly makes each piece unique while being repeatable on a large scale if the steps of curve creation and angle determination are followed for each piece. The only tedious task is the scanning of the wood on a large scale, but given that in principle any piece can be used, there are strong arguments in favour of this proposal  compared to manufactured products.
